IMPACT Awards at the Glenview Park District recognize innovative , creative and entrepreneurial projects that result in any combination of increased revenues , decreased costs , improved efficiency , improved customer satisfaction , and process improvements . Staff are encouraged to nominate projects for this annual award , with the leadership team and the Park Board of Commissioners determining the finalists and ultimate winner . Here is an overview of the winners from the last five years .
2024
ROBERT ’ S YUKON ADVENTURE DAY
Staff launched a new winter-themed event that showcases the recently renovated Interpretive Center . Robert ’ s Yukon Adventure Day featured dog sledding teams from Adopt-a-Husky , snowshoeing , opportunities to learn about winter ecology and animal adaptations , roasting marshmallows by the campfire , and an indoor snowball fight . Participants learn about Illinois ’ first naturalist , Robert Kennicott , who grew up at The Grove and made two expeditions to the Yukon .
2023
SCHOOL DISTRICT 34 CAMP COOPERATIVE
In the winter of 2022 , Glenview School District 34 collaborated with the Park District to create a summer camp program for students affected by ongoing construction projects at the schools . The Park District offered up to 40 additional camp spots , with fees covered by a grant obtained by the school district . The partnership enabled 39 children to attend camp at no cost , while the Park District provided essential services such as foreign language interpreters , transportation , and constant communication with parents . The initiative ensured that children had an enriching summer experience despite challenges , highlighting the success of the cooperative effort between the Park District and Glenview School District 34 .
