DIEDERICH PARK
Located at 1 Briar Road in the Village of Golf , Diederich Park has a storied history that dates back to July 1931 . The park was acquired partly through purchase and partly through a lease agreement with George N . Diederich , one of the original commissioners of the Glenview Park District . This early collaboration set the stage for the park ’ s enduring legacy .
In 1950 , the leased portion of the park was officially deeded to the Glenview Park District , solidifying its status as a community asset . An expansion in 1958 was funded by proceeds from the same $ 450,000 bond issue that supported the expansion of Sleepy Hollow Park . The expansion added 2.3 acres to Diederich Park , bringing its total size to 3.8 acres .
The original fieldhouse at Diederich Park was built in 1953 . Over the years , the facility underwent several renovations , with significant updates made in 2013 as part of the capital replacement program . These improvements included energy-efficient lighting , upgraded bathrooms , new insulation , and modern kitchen facilities , ensuring that the fieldhouse remains an inviting space for visitors .
