The maintenance of this bridge and existing amenities is in accordance with the 10-year Comprehensive Master Plan for the Park District ( 2018 ), the Village of Glenview Park and Pedestrian Plan ( 2023 ) and the Connecting Cook County Transportation Plan ( 2016 ).
Offered by the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways department , the grant offered $ 8.5 million in funding to those who had projects that would improve transportation for residents of Cook County . There were 80 applications submitted this year seeking funding of more than $ 30 million . The Park District received notice we will be awarded $ 225,500 for this project . The estimated cost for replacement of the Central Parkway Bridge is $ 500,000 , but the project will need to be bid out to establish a final budget . Remaining funds for the project will come from the Park Services budget . The Central Parkway Bridge project is still under permit review at IDOT and the U . S . Army Corps of Engineers and is expected to be completed in 2024 .

This artistic concept represents what the new bridge will look like . The style of construction will be very similar to the bridge found at Sleepy Hollow Park , with a white concrete walkway .

TREE CENSUS CONDUCTED

This summer , certified arborists from Great Lakes Urban Forestry Management conducted an update to Glenview Park District ’ s comprehensive tree inventory , which studies the diversity of species , age and health of trees throughout our parks . This inventory resulted in a total count of 10,106 active inventoried trees ! See the plan at : glenviewparks . org / government .
