Marr Malawi Project Written by Grace Taylor , Sophie Abbott and Charlize Rorison , S3
Our S6 Leadership group did a fantastic job of organising our annual Sponsored Walk in order to raise money for our Marr Malawi Partnership . The whole school managed to walk 5K round the local area to raise money . On the day pupils were asked to bring in donations and wear the Malawi colours displayed in the flag ! The times for each year group to walk were staggered to allow for social distancing – we were also lucky to get great weather on the day !
As a school we have raised over £ 4,000 - this will allow us to fill the renovated classrooms with tables and chairs , provide laptops and begin saving for the girls ’ hostel at our partner school in Malawi . This will make a real difference in the lives of the pupils of Ntenjera .
We had a bit of friendly house competition again this year - with Welbeck being the winning house – managing to raise the most money for Malawi . They had a total of £ 1,082 ! Well done everyone !
Click on the image of Olaf , the headteacher of Ntenjera Secondary , to view his video . It ’ s well worth a watch . He explains what we ’ ve achieved already and what we hope to do in the future .
