We are delighted to have Eva Mackinnon ( S3 ) join the School Student News Team this year – she came up with the great idea of interviewing members of the Marr College staff to help students get to know their teachers better . She thought this would be especially helpful for new members of staff .
Introducing Mrs Walker !
Hello everyone ! On the 4th of October I met with one of our new English teachers , Mrs Walker at break time . Mrs Walker is originally from the Scottish borders - she went to school there before going to university in Glasgow . Before coming to Marr College , her previous job was in Prestwick Academy . Mrs Walker is happy to say that she has a permanent job here at Marr !
( and probably a favourite of most people ) I asked Mrs Walker what her favourite Harry Potter quote is because some of them are amazing ! Mrs Walker ' s favourite is : " Working hard is important . But there ' s something that matters even more . Believing in yourself ." - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix .

She wanted to become an English teacher because it was her favourite subject at school , she loved reading and likes to hear people ' s opinions . Mrs Walker ' s favourite part about her job is reading to and with pupils and she likes to encourage pupils to look for deeper meanings in texts . Her favourite author is Maggie O ' Farrell , author of one of her favourite books , Hamnet , which is a fictional account of Shakespeare ' s son who died aged 11 .
In her spare time , Mrs Walker is busy ! She has three dogs ( two of them are puppies ) and has a young family . She loves to run , read , and watch crime dramas with subtitles . As Harry Potter is my favourite thing ever
