Chinese New Year 2017 – Fire Rooster Year
The Chinese Year of the Fire Rooster started in January 28 th 2017 and will end on February 15 th 2018.
Based on the Chinese lunar calendar, the New Year has no exact date. It is organized around the movements of the moon, and differs each year. Also called Spring Festival, it is the most important annual event for Chinese people, and is celebrated across the world with many festivities.
2017 is the 4717 th Chinese year!
The Year of the Rooster takes over from the Year of the Monkey. Roosters are said to be the most motivated animal in the Chinese zodiac and always put their careers first. Babies who will be born in the New Year are fire roosters – said to be trustworthy and responsible with a good sense of timekeeping. According to traditional beliefs, they will be suited to become journalist, soldier, or surgeon.
