LIVE MUSIC

“I couldn't let you drown

So I let you drift away

You're tearing me apart

Because you didn't have the guts to stay“

27th of April was a life-changing event. I felt the beat off the drums through my bones and the bass line making me feel things. With my head in the clouds, i looked at the fluorescent lights ahead of me being shone down to the musicians I’ve been looking up to for years as they began strumming their guitars while thanking us for our presence at the venue that night. Despite the long hours of me struggling in my 4 inch high boots, I let the music fill my ears and other parts of my mind that needed mending. With that being said, life-changing would be an understatement.

As the man who once sang the lines “To find a job is like a haystack needle. ‘Cause where he lives, they don't use colored people”, Stevie Wonder once said “Music, at its essence, is what gives us memories. And the longer a song has existed in our lives, the more memories we have of it.” I suppose music by itself is just a feeling but live music puts us in a state of mind in which we are forgotten of all the things that weigh us down for just a split second that might last for an hour or two.
