Cookies for
a Cause
On May 29, 2014, Feeding South Dakota’s truck made a stop at Girl Scouts—Dakota Horizons’ office in Sioux Falls. Can you guess what they were picking up? Girl Scout cookies of course! We were pleased to be able to donate 450 cases from our Rapid City office and 1,000 cases from our Sioux Falls office to Feeding South Dakota.
Let’s break that down. Each case stores 12 boxes of cookies. That means our Rapid City office donated 5,400 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and our Sioux Falls office donated 12,000 boxes for a total of 17,400 boxes of cookies. Now that’s a lot of Girl Scout cookies!
We are proud to support this worthwhile organization. Our donation will specifically help the Backpack Program of South Dakota. What a sweet treat for the kids!
Women of Distinction
7
Earlier this year, on May 14, Girl Scouts—Dakota Horizons hosted its 20th annual Women of Distinction luncheon in Rapid City. This event honors outstanding women and girls who have made a difference in their communities. These individuals are nominated by their peers and celebrated at the awards luncheon.
While at the event, names of guests who donated to the Girl Scouts were placed in a drawing for a wreath made by Tandi Croghan of Great Western Bank. The winner of the door prize was Dr. Patricia Mahon, Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
In the spirit of giving, Dr. Mahon promptly delivered the spring wreath to Kids Kastle Little Miner’s Club—the childcare facility located on the School of Mines campus. Thanks to both Tandi and Patricia’s generosity, the wreath will now be enjoyed daily by the children and parents that attend the childcare facility.
Donors like Tandi and Dr. Mahon help Girl Scouts—Dakota Horizons build tomorrow’s girl leaders. We are thankful for supportive followers!
