Service Project vs Take Action
Do you know the difference between Service Projects and Take Action Projects? If you are doing something for the community, most likely you are working on a Service Project. If you are doing something with the community, you are working on a Take Action Project.
Service Projects: address an immediate need for a short period of time.
Take Action Projects: address the root cause of an issue for a longer period of time and have a larger impact. They go beyond blankets and collections.

Troops in Action
Daisy Troop 30100 is eagerly learning about the environment and conservation throughout their Journey 'From Earth to Sky.' To broaden their understanding of how people and building impact our environment the Daisy's took a field trip to Microsoft to tour the Vision building.
The Microsoft Vision building is a state of the art LEED Gold Certified structure; meaning the building has a minimum impact on its environment, has high water efficiently, and conserves water among many other important 'green' initiatives.
Eric Momsen, father of Daisies Autumn and Lila, lead the troop on a personal tour of the site. Eric is a Software Development Engineer at Microsoft. For their hands on activity he introduced the Daisies to the fun of computer programming. The Daisies paired up and worked their way through several online exercises learning how a computer thinks and, in turn, how to create fun programs. The site they used was Learn Code - maybe your Girl Scouts would like to give it a try!
