Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology
Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology is the specialty of Dentistry & Pathology that deals with Nature, Identification & Management of disease affecting the oral & maxillofacial region.
As such it occupies a unique position in the Health care community for both the Dental & Medical professions. Naturally members of the Dental profession including General practitioners, Specialists & Dental Hygienists must have a good knowledge of pathogenesis, Clinical features, treatment & prognosis of the Oral & Para Oral diseases.
In keeping view the future challenges & pursuits ahead , the department of Oral & Maxillofacial has been recently Renovated & Upgraded. The department undertakes Under graduate teaching subjects like Dental Anatomy & Oral Histology for I Year BDS and Oral Pathology for III BDS students. The department also has Post Graduate Course in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology with One Unit of PG Students since 2011. The department houses P G clinics for PG studies and also well-established state of art diagnostic and investigating laboratories catering to the needs of the patients. Presently the department is heading for the ‘Centre for Doctoral Studies’, for which it has applied for RGUHS Bangalore.
