Hope in Action
Hope is more than a feeling- it is action, progress, and the steadfast belief that transformation is possible. At River Heritage Conservancy, that belief fuels everything we do in Origin Park, where we are reclaiming overlooked and abused landscapes- brownfields, junkyards, and landfills- and turning them into places of restoration, connection, and beauty.
Last year, Kentuckiana Wood Products and the Poole Family answered our call to action with a generous donation of 1.73 acres of land, helping us take another bold step forward. This site, steeped in industrial history- from a pallet factory to a junkyard- bears the scars of abuse and neglect. But this donation marks a turning point in the story.
Before: After:
This land will no longer be forgotten. It will become part of the living, breathing puzzle that is Origin Park- a park that will be shaped not only by nature and design but by the will of a community determined to reclaim its land, restore its spirit, and re-imagine its future.
This gift is more than a transfer of acreage; it is a profound act of belief in what’ s possible. A reminder that what is broken can be made whole again— and that even the most damaged places can be healed.
Together, as a community that has hope, we are building something remarkable.
Hiking with Jeremy Beavin
Led by Interpretive Naturalist Jeremy Beavin, we explored the trail at a relaxed pace while learning about invasive species, their impact on native ecosystems, and practical ways we can support native plant growth in our own landscapes.
Big thanks to Jeremy for sharing his insight and to everyone who came out to connect with nature and our local environment. We’ re grateful for this curious and engaged community!
