If patients are on the way to the emergency room, CCSI physicians will meet them there to“ arrange for the highest level of specialist or sub-specialty care that you need and remain your primary care team leader- primary physician, attending physician, admitting doctor of record – while we consult whoever is necessary to address your problem,” Bickers said.

Even if one’ s primary care doctor at CCSI is not available to take a phone call at a particular time, they will still be connected to one of the practice’ s physicians, according to Bickers.

“ We have a backup plan,” he said.“ If I were to not be available on vacation, we have an automated system of ringtone that, if you call this phone and I’ m somewhere over the Pacific, it rings directly to Dr. Eichenberger.”

The patients at CCSI appreciate not having to wait weeks or months to connect with their primary care doctor, according to Bickers.

“ People do find it amazing because it’ s so far removed from what they might have anywhere else,” he said.

Due to the specific style and philosophy offered by CCSI, the practice limits the number of patients. The doctors only accept 300 patients each, while a typical primary care physician might see more than 2,000 a year, according to Bickers.

“ Unfortunately, we have eight or nine pages of waiting lists of people who would like to come join our style and philosophy of care, but we can’ t accept another eight or nine pages of names,” Bickers said.“ It would destroy the M. O. of what we provide here.”

The annual fee for CCSI can be paid upfront for the year or broken into smaller payments. Beyond that amount, patients are not charged for CCSI services, since the membership fee covers all services performed from the office.
