STAFF PROFILE VALET ON THE MOVE AUSTIN VANDERRIET HAS A DRIVE FOR MEMBER SERVICE THAT KEEPS HIM ON THE GO IN A CHALLENGING, FAST-PACED ROLE. BY CHERYL PRUETT M aking a good first impression takes on extra importance at Newport Beach Country Club, especially when it involves the members’ pride and joy—their 22 cars. On the front lines are the valets, who play a highly visible role in this fast-paced environment. It is here that responsiveness and effi- ciency are combined with friend- liness and attention to detail, all to NEWPORT BEACH COUNTRY CLUB MAGAZINE ensure member satisfaction. Seasoned valet Austin VanderRiet is up to the task and, for the last four years, he does much more than just park and retrieve cars. “I have always loved the idea of working at a country club and, when the opportunity became available, I jumped at it,” he says, noting that he joined the team just in time to experience the country club’s growth. “I started when NE W PO R TB E AC H C C .C O M
