Annual Events

As Tahlequah continues to grow , more and more opportunities for both fun and education present themselves for residents of the town . Whether they are coming into town for the first time as students at Northeastern State University , looking for a great place to go fishing on the lake , or if they are desiring a peaceful , mildly secluded town to enjoy their days in , Tahlequah has something for everyone .

Year-Round Activities

Cherokee National History Museum
The Cherokee National History Museum at 101 S . Muskogee Ave . is a staple of Cherokee history . Restored and opened in 2019 , the museum resides in the original Cherokee National Capitol building and has 7,000 square feet of art and heritage to explore . Cherokee Art Center
What began as a Works Progress Administration project during the Great Depression is now the Cherokee Art Center – a place for artists to meet and share knowledge . The space is used for a variety of techniques , such as metal smithing , pottery , loom weaving , painting and more . It also serves as a gallery for Cherokee artists to showcase and sell their pieces . The CAC at 212 S . Water Ave . is open 9 a . m . to 5:30 p . m ., Tuesday through Friday . Cherokee Heritage Center
The Cherokee Heritage Center was established in 1963 and is the premiere cultural center for tribal history . The center is currently closed to the public while staff works on future plans .
Hunter ’ s Home
Hunter ’ s Home at 19479 E . Murrell Home Road in Park Hill is the last standing pre-Civil War plantation home in the state . The house and its grounds give guests a window into what life was like was during the 19th century . The site ’ s historical interpreters host programs throughout the year and the staff has worked diligently to transition the site into a living history farm and museum . John Hair Cultural Center and Museum
After being granted land in trust in 2019 , the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokees now has 76 acres of trust land in Tahlequah , home to several facilities and its museum – The John Hair Cultural Center and Keetoowah Museum . Located at 18280 W . Keetoowah Circle , the museum features many exhibits and art , as well as a gift shop with handmade Keetoowah items . More information is available by calling 918-871-2866 .
Cherokee Casino Tahlequah
Feeling lucky ? Cherokee Casino Tahlequah , located at 3307 Seven Clans Ave ., is the place for people trying hit the jackpot . It ’ s open 24 / 7 on Fridays and Saturdays , with varying hours throughout the rest of the week , and offers hundreds of electronic games . White Wolf Steakhouse is also on location , where diners can enjoy gourmet cuisine . The casino is located next to the Cherokee Springs Golf Course . Cort Mall
Cherokee Nation Cort Mall provides retail space , free internet access , shared equipment , and many other features for businesses . Among the spots and offices are the Kawi Cafe , which offers coffee , soups , salads , sandwiches , and more , and The Spider Gallery , where Cherokee artists can display their work for sale . The Cort Mall is located at 215 S . Muskogee Ave .
