Driver ’ s Licenses
Testing
Those who want to take the exam to acquire a driver ’ s license can visit the Driver ’ s Exam Office at 100 Phoenix Ave ., southeast of the Highway 51-Choctaw Street intersection , next to the Tahlequah Police Department . The Tahlequah Driver License Exam Station offers driver ’ s license renewals , identification cards , a written test , a road test , and a commercial driver ’ s license test , with a corresponding written test . Services are available from Monday to Friday , 8 a . m . to noon , and 1-4:45 p . m . The morning session is for license applications and transfers , ID card applications , and all written and driving tests .
Those seeking Class D and motorcycle licenses can take the driving skills test during the afternoon session . Appointments are required for driving tests and applicants must have first passed the written exam . Fees must be paid to the tag agency when licenses are issued . The fee for applying for a learners permit is $ 4 , and the drivers license fee is $ 38.50 . A $ 4 fee will be charged every time an applicant fails to pass the exam . Cherokee Nation provides motor vehicle tags , including for commercial vehicles , farm trucks , military service , personalized and specialty tags , physically disabled , and RV and travel trailers . Only Cherokee citizens living in Oklahoma can acquire these tags . Acceptable forms of payment include cash , money order , or a cashier ’ s check made out to the United Keetoowah Band Tax Commission or Keetoowah Tag Agency . Personal checks are not accepted .
