Andy Deitsch grew up outside London but moved to
the Capital Region as a teenager. He attended high
school in Saratoga Springs, where he resettled with his
wife in 2008. After working for General Electric Corp.
for 26 years, he recently took early retirement, and is
enjoying traveling all over the world with his wife to focus
on his passions—scuba diving and photography. He has
won several photography competitions and his images
have been published in magazines around the world.
Although he and his wife spend winters in Sarasota,
Florida, they are happy to return to Saratoga Springs
every spring and to live there through summer and fall.

Saratoga Springs is a great little city to live in. I love
being able to walk to the farmers’ market and to all the
great restaurants in town. I also enjoy sitting at my favorite coffee
shop on Broadway, just doing some people watching. When I first
moved to the area when I was a kid, my family lived in Clifton
Park, just south of Saratoga Springs. At that time, Route 9 wasn't
very well developed; the only thing we only had there was the
Clifton Country Mall. Today, it’s packed with hotels, restaurants
and many shops. It's amazing to see how big it’s become. As a
photographer, I like to get up early and photograph the horses
training at the Oklahoma Training Track. I also like going to
Lake George, where I scuba dive and practice my underwater
photography.
