Bruce Tunkel, former bandmate
Back in 1990, my band, The Red
House, had recorded our SBK re-
cords debut in LA. We needed to
prepare for a tour and we decided
that we should get a keyboard
player, so that I could function as
a frontman, and show off my awe-
some guitar skills (that’s a joke
btw). We held auditions, and nar-
rowed it down to two, and then
ultimately chose this kid named
Adam Schlesinger.
Besides being a fantastic musi-
cian, we really hit it off with Adam,
and he fit right into the group. Our
tour had us opening for the Moody
Blues, gigging in the deep south,
playing a huge outdoor festival in
Arizona, and of course doing lots
of club dates. One show we did
was the big outdoor WNEW show
on the beach in Asbury Park open-
ing for Bruce Hornsby. We had a
lot of good times with our little
circle which consisted of the band
Ronald Baumann, Robert Nicol,
Tony Stives, Adam and our crew
Richard Stanley and Peter Scherer.
Aside from the music, we would
all hang out together, and have a
lot of laughs.
