WorleyParsons have met with the nuclear safety experts to discuss the project. They have
discussed the types of the nuclear fuel that will be needed and the security measures to be
incorporated in the design.
As a result, according to the head of the Nuclear Materials Authority, Nagdi Farag, an
international auction will be held to receive the drilling and the exploration right for searching
and mining for the uranium in Egypt.
Nevertheless, there are still many challenges and obstacles that face the Egyptian government
and hinder the way of its dream of producing peaceful atomic energy, including the
administration's lack of interest in industries and activities related to nuclear power, as well as
the fear of an external meddling that might cause further complications to the new auction.
However, the advantages of having a nuclear power plant are substantial. Nuclear power plants
occupy only small space compare to a wind farm. That’s why it is easy to specify an area to it;
however, it needs to be built on a coast. Moreover, what gives it an edge is its no carbon
emission feature. Nuclear power plant is an environmentally friendly source of energy; it has no
effect on the atmosphere, as it doesn’t produce any smoke particles.
Furthermore, nuclear power plants make it one of the most efficient sources of energy. It
consumes only small amount of nuclear energy and returns it generates sufficient amount of
energy. This is the problem with typical power plants, they consume large amount of fuel to
generate to meet the public’s need, and consequently it contributes to the scarcity of natural
resources when used in other things like transportation. Not to mention that the regular power
plants inflict harm on the environment as well as the society.
