“Our salvation from the electricity crisis”

Nowadays, almost every capita in Egypt is suffering from the lack of electricity. The limited
number of power plants and the scarce of fuel have lead to such crucial problem. The full
capacity of electricity generated in Egypt is only 30,000 mega watts and obviously it doesn’t
satisfy the consumption of electricity in Egypt. Thus in 6th of October the plan of establishing of
nuclear power plant was approved, after putting it on hold since the 1960’s in the time of the
president Gamal Abdel Nassar and it was on hold after the catastrophic loss in the 1967 war.
Then it was initiated again 1973 after the second war, but unfortunately it was put on hold again
by president Mubark due to political reasons. “The projects aims to generate 5,000 megawatts of
electricity from the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant, which will be completed in 2020” Egyptian
Minister of Electricity and Energy Ahmad Emam. However, the project received 30 offers from
different countries and it was cut down to only 10 offers including Japan, France, USA, South
Korea and China.
The project is planned to be build in the Dabaa city where the government will receive 4 billion
$ in order to finance the project through grants from different companies. The project tends to be
