New Discoveries and Inventions "A Revolution in the car industry" | Page 2

Gamgoum 2 started to work on the project and as they were analyzing things they figured it is going to be complicated, in order to provide a blind person an image of what is in front of him seemed impossible. The car system is divided into three main divisions: Perception, Computation and non-visual interference. The objective of the Perception phase is to gather the information and perceive the environment using initial measurement unit that act as a human ear. It is designed to measure the acceleration and angular acceleration. A GPS to estimate the location of the car and cameras to scan the road to locate their lanes and finally a laser scan to detect the obstacles in the area. These constituents all add up to make sure they generate the most accurate image as possible to ensure the safety of the driver and then give it to the computer in order to compute. Safety is the key thing in that project that is why the role of the computation is crucial. It makes sure that the driver chooses the safest way to operate the car. Moreover, it generates instructions on how to control the car. However what was the greatest dilemma was how to convey all these information to the driver. It has to be fast and accurate enough, but this where the non-visual interference comes. The non-visual interference phase contains several systems. There is the Drive Grip, Speed Strip, NVIS and the Airpix. The NVIS is simple a vibration vest, starting three dimensional ping sound system. However, still the driver is told what to do as there are instruction cue devices. Thus, they designed the AirPix, it is a small tablet with a numerous holes and a compressed air comes out of it, consequently drawing an identical image of the surroundings the driver, seeing the lanes, obstacles and roads.
