JUNIOR TEAM REPORTS

We started the year with lots of forwards but not many backs. However we managed to
convert some forwards into backs. Our grading games didn’t go to well having some people
playing in new positions and the games very short. So we ended up in Section 3.
We started the competition with six wins in a row. However the sections were revamped
and 3 teams came down from section 2 and we struggled to keep the momentum going.
Losing our next couple of games meant we were unable to make the finals of our section
which was disappointing considering our start to the season. However there were some
outstanding performances.
Shaun Berryman was our player of the year and was rewarded with selection in the Under
13 Metro Black side. Ben Nicholls was our best back and was selected in the Under 13
Canterbury under 65kg side. Excellent effort from these guys. Our best forward went to
Bailey Counihan and most improved went to Reuben Mulipola. Jayden Stokes received the
most promising halfback. Top try scorer went to Isaac Humphrey with 15 tries. Most
conversions went to Kalani Fogalele with 30 conversions.
Well done to all who put the hard work in and were rewarded with some personal
achievement. Many thanks to our fantastic manager Kevin Brennan. He does an awesome job
and Damien and I and the team thank you. Also thanks to the committee and to Lance
Stephenson for their help. Damien and I enjoyed coaching a great bunch of lads and wish you
all the best for the future, but remember our club will still be here for you next year if you
wish to stay at the club. Kia Kaha
