Based on its recent analysis of
the modular data centre market,
Frost & Sullivan recognised Cannon
Technologies with the 2015 European
Frost & Sullivan Company of the
Year Award. The company’s products
range from containerised solutions to
pre-fabricated modular solutions and
micro and mini modular data centres.
Each of its product categories were
developed by implementing top-notch
industry practices and leveraging
cutting-edge technologies. The Cannon
Globe Trotter is the containerised
range of modular data centres, which

non-mainstream vertical applications.
Primarily for this product line, the
company has designed a Soft Ride
technology that enables fully functional
data centres to be shipped globally,
with all servers and associated IT
equipment pre-installed and shock
protected against damage. To cater to
mainstream data centre applications,
the company introduced Cannon Data
Campus, a proven, resilient and efficient
pre-fabricated modular solution. The
Cannon Data Campus is equipped
with high-performance infrastructure,
designed to achieve low power usage

IT Managed Service Provider,
Amicus ITS, is warning businesses
to be vigilant with regards to data
security following a recent survey,
which revealed that most workers are
now accessing often confidential work
data from their private mobile phones.
The UK wide survey of more than
1,000 people, conducted by Amicus
ITS, identified that almost 60% of
respondents are now using some
form of personally owned mobile
device for work purposes. The survey
showed that some 37.3% of people
use their own mobile phone, while
32.6% use a personal laptop, 23% a
private desktop computer and 22.5% a
personally owned tablet device. Head

of security and governance at Amicus
ITS, JP Norman said: “Nearly all IT
managers should be concerned about
the impact of mobile security, with
lost or stolen information a very real
threat to most organisations. Indeed,
IT security incidents and high impact
corporate breaches are never far from
the news. “With today’s inherently
mobile workforce many organisations’
corporate information is exposed and
all too easily transferred outside of
managed environments. It’s a growing
problem, highlighted by our survey and
the growing number of people using
personal mobile devices, often with little
or no security, to access often sensitive
corporate information.”

Superfast Berkshire has reached
another milestone as Gigaclear,
the ultrafast pure fibre broadband
provider, began the first stage of
network construction in West Berkshire.
Gigaclear’s principal contractor, MKJ,
started work for the first gigabit fibre
broadband cabinet in Eddington,
Hungerford. This new pure fibre
ultrafast broadband network will give
nearly 12,000 homes and businesses in
West Berkshire broadband speeds from
50Mbps up to 1000Mbps, which is up to
40 times faster than the UK average, all
delivered by the end of 2017. Residents
and business owners in Hungerford,
East Garston, Kintbury and Lambourn
will be among the first to have access to
Gigaclear’s broadband service. Details
of the entire roll out schedule are

Matthew Hare, Chief Executive of
Gigaclear, said: “This is an exciting start
to the delivery of this future-proofed,
ultrafast broadband network in West
Berkshire. Installing a new, pure fibre
communications network will give those
living and working in the region Internet
speeds up to 1000Mbps meaning they
can do whatever they need to do online,
anytime. Working in partnership with
the Superfast Berkshire team, we look
forward to transforming the broadband
experience in this area and delivering
this project on time.” Colin Batchelor,
Project Manager for Superfast
Berkshire, said: “We are excited that
this project is now fully underway with
construction works moving forward,
and we hope that the first customers in
Eddington will be using this new service
before Christmas this year. This is a
major project for West Berkshire with
some 850km of new fibre construction
work to deliver ultrafast broadband
to many parts of the district.” Local
events will be held by Gigaclear as
part of the rollout to provide relevant
information to those who will have
access to the service. Residents will have
the opportunity to ask questions about
the project and have their broadband
questions answered.
