PROJECT FOCUS

A Bright future

When Brightstar took the decision to upgrade to an 40Gb / s Ethernet network it turned to SSE Enterprise Telecoms to provide the ideal connectivity solution . Michael Crane finds out more .

London based Internet Service Provider ( ISP ) Brightstar offers a broad range of voice , data and bespoke communications solutions for businesses of all sizes . Its customers range from national blue chip organisations with thousands of users to small to medium sized firms , with just a handful of staff .

Service providers such as Brightstar are often relied upon to provide dependable , flexible and future proof connectivity .
Founded in 2002 by managing director Mark Barber , Brightstar ’ s initial business model was to offer suites of IT solutions . In 2006 , it went on to become a fully-fledged ISP , providing connectivity to organisations in a number of different sectors , with a specific focus on the hospitality and service industry . Faced with particularly high data usage requirements – due to the sheer number of staff and guests along with their numerous devices – organisations operating in the fast moving hospitality industry also need to be able to keep up with the latest technologies , which are transforming the end user experience . As a result , service providers , such as Brightstar , are often relied upon to provide dependable , flexible and future proof connectivity , ensuring that customer requirements and expectations are met at all times , despite often unpredictable fluctuations in demand .
With strong demand for Brightstar ’ s Internet services , in early 2016 the company recognised it needed additional access to reliable Ethernet across London , which could be supported by a flexible team who fully understood the importance of keeping its customers happy and connected . Brightstar was looking for a network provider who could guarantee both seamless network delivery and a good customer experience . SSE Enterprise Telecoms ’ heritage in providing connectivity for companies with no tolerance for downtime , such as those operating in the energy sector , made it a good fit for the project . Complemented by a team adept at complex and demanding network deployments , Brightstar was confident that the network provider would deliver the level of customer experience it required .
Lighting up London and beyond
Following the deployment of a new resilient 40Gb / s Ethernet network , Brightstar now has the capability to provide connectivity in and around London , where the majority of its customers are located . Furthermore , it also has the ability to connect with customers and branch offices located further afield , through SSE Enterprise Telecoms ’ UK-wide network . This enables it to offer customers a dependable Internet service throughout the UK , no matter where they are located .
