F R O M T H E D E S I G N E R : “Formerly an unused walk-
through area with an attached outdated bathroom, we
converted this space into a full bathroom and laundry room
for a Barrington, Rhode Island home. The major goal of
the project was to bring the washer and dryer from the
basement up on to the first floor for convenience. We also
downsized the existing mudroom in order to expand the
bathroom and maximize its full potential. Not only did this
increase the value of the home, but it also made for a better
use of space for our clients’ family. Moreover, the home is
located near the water, so the owners needed a place where
they could rinse off after a day at the beach and easily throw
their sandy belongings straight into the washing machine.
By incorporating a shower and laundry right outside the
mudroom, we made it so they could avoid traipsing sand
through the entire house while also creating a perfect spot
where they could easily bathe a future dog.”
