WIND ENERGY
Seasight Davits – Leading Supplier of Davit Cranes Ready to Launch New Crane Model
Davit cranes , or platform cranes , are small but crucial components of offshore wind farms . Each wind turbine and platform is equipped with a davit crane for transferring essential tools and spare parts from vessels up on the platforms . Tools and spare parts that keep the turbines up and running . This is why Seasight Davits ’ crane design evolves around reliability .
A Strong Design Concept
The closed crane house is Seasight Davits ’ signature design . It is meticulously constructed to maximize reliability and functionality while minimizing maintenance costs . This design protects key components , including the control unit , from harsh offshore environments and corrosion , contributing significantly to Seasight Davits ’ success .
Plug and Play – Ensuring Easy and Cost- Efficient Installation
Seasight Davits ’ plug and play concept comes from the closed crane house design . As all components are installed inside the crane , the cranes remain assembled after the successful Factory Acceptance Test ( FAT ). This means that the cranes are ready for installation , which only involves bolting them to the foundation platforms . The cranes then only need to be connected to the power supply in order to operate .
The cranes are usually delivered to the foundation yards for installation , where

Testing or commissioning of the cranes at the foundation yard is a normal procedure , but with the plug and play concept , it is possible to eliminate onshore commissioning and do it offshore instead .
Titan-X – meeting market demands for Higher Lifting Capacity
Seasight Davits is ready to launch its new crane model , Titan-X , which , compared to other davit cranes capacity ( SWL ) of 1000 kg , boasts a lifting capacity of 3000 kg at up to 7 meters outreach and 2000 kg at 8 meters outreach .
This development responds to increasing market demands for larger cranes , driven by the rapid growth of larger wind turbines .
Seasight Davits already offers three other crane models :
• Titan – a fixed-boom crane , which comes with an outreach of 3 to 5 meters and a lifting capacity of 1000 kg .
• Hercules – a luffing crane , which comes with an outreach of 6 to 10 meters , and a lifting capacity of 1000-2000 kg .
• Spider – fixed-boom crane for transferring cargo as well as personnel .
Spider – the first Davit Crane for Cargo and Crew
The Spider model opens new possibilities in the offshore wind industry as the first crane approved for transferring both cargo and crew .
Traditionally , crew members climb ladders to access the platforms , a challenging task with personal protective equipment ( PPE ) and slippery steps . And though some projects use Work-to-Work vessels , tools and spare parts still need to be lifted from the vessels with davit cranes .
The Spider crane uses a two-person crew basket , allowing technicians to be safely and comfortably lifted from the vessel to the platform .
The crane includes numerous safety systems and is programmed to slew the crew basket over the water before lifting . In case of an
