NBE STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN

MIDWEST ACADEMIC TALENT SEARCH!

North Branch Elementary is partnering with Northwestern University's Midwest Academic Talent Search (NUMATS), to provide Gifted and Talented opportunities to qualifying 4th grade students. These students are given the opportunity to take the PSAT, as early as the 4th grade. Participating families will receive a report of how well their child has done on the PSAT, and may be offered online learning opportunities through the NUMATS program, based on the results. Of the 36 NBE students who qualified, by receiving a 4 on their Math and/or Reading M-STEP, five of them have been elected to partcipate in the January PSAT administration. We are proud of all the qualifying students, and wish our participating students the best in exploring this new program.

For Thanksgiving, our kindergarten class had so much to be thankful for! To celebrate, we made thankfulness pizzas. We started by making a large class pizza (made of paper) together. Each student, along with parents and other family members, helped to make a topping for the pizza. On each topping was something each child in the class was thankful for. As the pizza filled with toppings, so did the thankful hearts of all the children. We also each got to make our own yummy pizzas to eat together for our own special Thanksgiving feast!
