Maintenance and Monitoring
Periodic inspections of the Envirolok system should be conducted annually during the spring and after storm events to ensure that no failures have occurred . Similar to stone toe inspections , Envirolok system inspections should detail any moved or slipped material , loose or damaged bags , stormwater damage , or exposed reinforcement . Damaged or ripped bags can be repaired with a repair kit provided by Envirolok .
Additionally , vegetation should be monitored to determine if new plantings are needed . In the first year after planting , the system should be inspected for signs of germination or washout that could occur . Routine watering or temporary irrigation should be instituted for the first six weeks after planting . Throughout the first year , vegetation should be monitored to ensure the plantings are receiving enough water , especially during periods of drought . If any weeds appear in the wall , they should be hand pulled . After the first year , vegetation inspections should be completed after the first week in June , as some plantings show productivity in the late spring . Ensure that watering needs are met throughout the year and continue to pull invasive weeds as they are identified . In approximately five growing seasons , full vegetative cover should be achieved . Areas that are slow to vegetate in this period of time should be addressed with additional live plantings or hydroseeding .
