SOUTH CAROLINA 4 5 Kiawah’s dunes are the site of Conservancy funded research led by Dr. Eric McElroy, associate professor from the College of Charleston. The study will be the first inventory of the terrestrial invertebrate community on the sand dunes at Kiawah. It will also quantify the relationships between invertebrates and the plant communities around them. Bobcats love to rest in the shelter of our salt shrub thickets, and we are letting the cat out of the bag! We are excited to announce that plans are underway for our symposium on Kiawah Island’s iconic bobcats, “The Mystery and the Magic.” Do not miss this opportunity to learn about these special cats and to enjoy the premiere of our newest documentary produced and directed by Cynthia Neal. In November we will host our only fundraising activity of 2018, our Legacy Gala. Again, The Sanctuary Hotel is the place for this fabulous and fun night. We are so happy to say we have sold out of reservations, but please consider donating to one of our auctions. We have a silent auction and a live one with our perennial favorite host, Tom Crawford. 69
