Biography
Evert Taube was a famous Swedish artist. Evert was born 1890, at Vinga, a famous island outside Gothenburg. Evert Taube died the 31 january 1976, in Stockholm.
. In 1925 he married Astri Bergman, a painter and a sculptress. 1907 he spent two years in a boat called s/s Australic and travelled around the Red Sea, Sri Lanka and South Africa. 1910 travelled to Argentina with a paddle streamer that was called Princess of Wales. The paddle steamer had a destination to Buenos Aires. Evert lived in Buenos Aires for five years and he became an Argentine citizen. He had many different works, one of the works was a military officer for the Argentine president. Before he went back to Sweden 1915, he learned spanish and italian and to play guitar, he went back to Sweden because of the First World War. When he came home he started a career as a painter and a sculptress. Later on he became a writer and a songwriter. He came from a musical family. His father was a musician and that's one reason why he started with music. Evert loved art in many different ways, for example writing music, writing poems and painting akvaerell and oil paintings. He wrote his songs about the places he been visiting. His most famous works is Calle Schewens vals and Fritioff och Carmencita. His had a quite particular singing voice and he always accompanied himself with his guitar.
