Bellydance Lesson: Egyptian Style Dancing

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm | Room: Sarasota

Presenter: Heather Camila Tompkins

What Americans call “belly dance” originated along the Silk Road (you can argue which peoples came up with it first). It began life as a dance that women would perform when socializing with other women. When rich Americans began to visit the “Orient,” they brought back with them tales of the amazing technique of these foreign dancers, and Hollywood began featuring the two-piece costume in its movies. Egyptian style dance is not traditionally choreographed – it is all about expressing who you are with movement and music, and sets you on the path to self-love.
