YEO Bios Julian McTizic City Councilman Bolivar, Tennessee Julian Anderson McTizic Sr. is a native of Bolivar, a small, rural town in Hardeman County, T.N. Born in December of 1986, he is the youngest African American to hold a seat as a city councilman in Hardeman County. In addition to serving as a city councilman, McTizic is also a member of his local Rotary chapter, the Bolivar General Hospital Healthcare Foundation, and a proud representative of WoodmenLife (formerly known as Woodmen of the World). While he is passionate about local politics, his favorite pastime is making memories with his wife of seven years, Demetria, and their toddler boys Julian Jr., 3, and Jamison, 2. His love for his family and people in general is what drives him to bring positive change to his community. His favorite quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world,” encourages him to continue striving for success in his political career. Marlon McWilson School Board Member Oakland, California School Board Member Marlon McWilson is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where he played football on an athletic scholarship. During McWilson’s tenure at UC Berkeley, he realized his calling to education, community work, and mentorship. McWilson was an integral part of a mentoring program at McClymonds High School in West Oakland. These experiences led him to enter the teaching profession in the Oakland Unified School District, where he taught at the elementary and high school levels. Currently, McWilson is a business owner in Oakland and the associate academic liaison for Cal Football. Lacey Merica School Board Member Omaha, Nebraska YEO National Convening | 2015 Lacey Merica was elected in May 2013 to represent Subdistrict 8 on the Omaha Public Schools (OPS) Board of Education. OPS is the largest school district in the state of Nebraska, educating around 46,000 students. She serves on the Finance, Operational Services, and Claims Committee, and is one of the OPS representatives on the Nebraska Association of School Boards Board of Directors. She earned her B.S. in biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and an M.B.A. from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. @SouthOLacey 76
