The discussion will center around workers’ rights and benefits, including ways to counter attacks with an economic justice agenda that considers both equality of opportunities and outcomes. Emmanuel Caicedo Demos Emmanuel Caicedo serves as the state affairs manager at Demos, where he leads on state-level advocacy efforts. Caicedo has over a decade’s worth of experience as an organizer, campaigner, and strategist for social and economic justice. Most recently, he was legislative director at the Working Families Party where he used electoral power to fight for change. He built and led coalitions that worked on democracy fights, economic justice campaigns, and the election of progressives. Notably, Caicedo was a key driver behind the New York City paid sick days victory in 2013. Previously, he was a community organizer with groups in the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn—where every day working people taught him the meaning of power. Born in Colombia and raised in Brooklyn, he was the first in his family to graduate from college. He has a BA in History and Political Science from Union College in Schenectady, NY. Rudy Gonzalves Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy Rudy Gonzalves is the national organizer for the Jobs to Move America campaign. In this capacity, he engages a national coalition that advocates for the growth of good manufacturing jobs in the US related to the production of clean energy railcars and buses for use in public transit systems across the country. He previously worked as a political director for labor unions, including the United Farm Workers and SEIU, and as a statewide coordinator for California Calls. Gonzalves also worked in public government with the Mayor’s Office of the Census 2010 and as a member of the Monterey County Planning Commission.
