14 FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2014 DETAILED AGENDA Ai-jen Poo National Domestic Workers Alliance Ai-jen Poo is the director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) and co-director of the Caring Across Generations campaign. She has been organizing immigrant women workers since 1996. In 2000, she co-founded Domestic Workers United (DWU), the New York organization that spearheaded the successful passage of the state’s historic Domestic Workers Bill of Rights in 2010. In 2007, DWU helped organize the first national domestic workers convening, out of which formed the NDWA. Poo serves on the board of directors of MomsRising, National Jobs with Justice, Working America, the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, and the National Council on Aging. Among Poo’s numerous accolades are the Ms. Foundation Woman of Vision Award, the Independent Sector American Express NGen Leadership Award, Newsweek’s list of 150 fearless women, and TIME’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Lola Smallwood Cuevas Los Angeles Black Worker Center Lola Smallwood Cuevas is director of the Los Angeles Black Worker Center as well as project director at the UCLA Labor Center. She also coordinates the African American Union Leadership School (AAULS), the first union leadership school in California focused on developing the next generation of union leaders through popular education. Smallwood Cuevas is co-author of the Labor Center’s publication Women’s Work: Homecare Workers Revitalize the Labor Movement and of a chapter in the upcoming UCLA Bunche Center publication Black Los Angeles: American Dreams and Racial Realities.
