Judge HCJ Flemming( Member) was appointed to the Bench in 1978. He served on both the Free State Provincial Division and on the Transvaal Provincial Division of the High Court. He was appointed Deputy Judge President of the Witwatersrand Local Division of the High Court in 1991. He has written several text books on credit law, and lectured at the University of the Free State for eleven years.
Adv Frans Kgolela( Fati) Manamela( Member) obtained BJuris and LLB degrees from the University of the North. He was admitted as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa in April 1995. Advocate Manamela has been active in consumer issues since 1992. In 1998 he was appointed the fi rst Consumer Protector for the province of Gauteng and was instrumental in setting up the fi rst Consumer Affairs Court in South Africa. He serves on the Board of the South African Savings Institute( SASI) and is also a member of the Committee on Policy and Legislation in the National Consumer Protection Forum. He is currently the Chief Director of Consumer Affairs and Business Compliance in the Gauteng Department of Economic Development.
Mr Xolela May( Member) holds a National Diploma in Law from the University of Johannesburg and a Diploma in Legal Studies from the South African School of Law. Mr May is a Senior Paralegal Advisor for the Black Sash Trust, where he is responsible for consumer rights education and consumer complaints. He has been involved in consumer protection and advocacy since 1999 and has served on various committees of the National Credit Regulator. He served on the committee responsible for reviewing Section 74 of the Magistrates’ Court Act. Mr May was also involved in the Debt Counselling Services pilot project prior to the implementation of the NCA.
Mr Mashudu Munyai( Member) received a BCom degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1985 and a BAcc degree from the same institution in 1991. After ten years with Eskom, Mr Munyai joined PricewaterhouseCoopers where he became a partner in 2001. Mr Munyai joined the Financial Services Board in 2004 as Deputy Executive Offi cer for Insurance. He joined MTN in 2007 and is currently General Manager of Finance Operations for MTN Ghana. He has also served as special advisor to the Minister of Public Enterprises.
Cape Sugarbird
Fynbos is an essential habitat for a wide variety of animals and birds, and some animals depend solely on it. The Sugarbird, with its outrageously long tail, is a fynbos species feeding mainly on Proteas. The threatened Black Harrier will only select a pristine fynbos site for its nest.
