Art
Inspiration for art abounds from the classics . While several art movements throughout history have been influenced directly by figures and motifs of the ancient world and mythology , such as Classicism and Neoclassicism , philosophers , too , have had their ideas transcend the time they were first uttered .
The postmodern art movement of the latter 20th century rejected most notions of progression and advancement in art per se and strove to create “ art for art ’ s sake .” While it had no clear origin , this movement is rooted in both opposing and expanding the view of previous modernist and pre-modernist artwork , with visual cues often in the form of textual integration , a diversity of media , and a breakdown of barriers between “ high ” and “ low ” art . Prominent artists of the 1960s postmodern period include Andy Warhol , Jackson Pollock , and Roy Liechtenstein , who pioneered pop art and further abstract forms inspired by the world around them . While at first , the differences between the postmodern period and Ancient Greek art are vastly physically different , with Ancient Greek art being highly mathematical and representational , many of the philosophies of the movements are similar .
