Growing up in the small town of Kenmare , North Dakota , John Nore started learning how to make customers smile at 14 . His parents , Larry & Judy , owned a small family store that allowed him to start in the industry . As Nore reached early adulthood , his parents began purchasing from Visto ’ s Trailer Sales in West Fargo , ND , as a sub-dealer .
“ During that time as a sub-dealer , I wound up moving to West Fargo - and then wanted to do something bigger and better . We had created a pretty good relationship with the owner , and the manager suggested I buy him out , which I did ,” said Nore , who has been the owner of Visto ’ s for almost eleven years .
For the first year of business , Nore leased the building and focused on cleaning up the business and making it an attractive place for customers . He desired to have a place in which the customer ’ s whole family could visit .
Upon arrival , Nore realized it would take an extensive amount of time and effort to create his envisioned environment . “ When I first came into the place , it was a mess . You could not even walk in the shop . There was only one stall . In the parts department , there wasn ’ t a single part on the floor , and the back area was a mess ,” Nore remembered . “ During the first year , we cleaned up and improved the place . We created four stalls in the shop with - during that time - about four employees .”
Nore understood when purchasing the company that he wouldn ’ t be able to do it alone . In his transition to General Manager , he brought along the original Assistant Manager who had been working for Visto ’ s for ten years .
“ He taught me a lot of what I know . He trained me on trailers . He taught me about the parts , the service , and the work as a whole . If it were not for him , I would not be where I am today ,” Nore said .
Over the past ten years , the original hard-working employees have helped to transform Visto ’ s Trailer Sales into the company it is today . They ’ ve brought along increased revenue , which has allowed for additional team members to be added . “ Total revenues have approximately quadrupled since we first started . We have a full-service team and a full parts department now ,” Nore said . Now boasting fourteen employees , the expansion has helped positivity shape the way others see the business .
