As production ramped up on the new trailers , Bergeron again shifted gears and turned his attention to the sidewalls of the trailer . Understanding that the trailer needed to look good , as well as be durable , he searched for a sidewall that would provide a seamless look but was insistent it be environmentally friendly .
Literally traveling the world , he found what he was looking for in what are called “ Bio-composite Panels ”. These panels are manufactured with the equivalent of 6,500 plastic bottles worth of Polyethylene Terephthalate ( P . E . T .) per trailer , making them eco-friendly , extremely durable , and highly weather resistant . The panels are thermally efficient with an R-5 rating which also provides excellent soundproofing . Ideal ’ s in-house lamination facility lays the fiberglass skin on the panels using high-tech adhesive rather than the tape , rivets or screws used by other manufacturers . These panels , along with Ideal ’ s patent pending extrusion system , allow the trailer to be assembled in a completely seamless fashion resulting in a sleek , lightweight , and strong trailer with a clean tight fit and finish .
A family-owned and operated company , Ideal currently operates its East Coast facility from a 45,000 sq ft manufacturing plant producing 40-45 trailers per week . Once capacity reaches 60 , a second manufacturing location will be selected according to Yves ’ son and current CEO , Guillaume Bergeron , “ We are heading toward our production target quickly . Our trailers are very different than the traditional trailers you ’ ll find , and we feel we are priced competitively versus trailers we consider to be lesser quality . Once people see ours and compare quality , price and warranty , we believe we will win .”
Ideal currently offers bumper-pull models in sizes ranging from 5 ’ x 8 ’ - 8.5 ’ x 24 ’ and the gooseneck versions from 18 ’ x 8.5 ’ - 24 ’. 2024 will be the first year they exhibit at the NATDA Trailer Show in Nashville .
