“We have employees who only stopped production for two weeks. Some of our employees have been producing trailers under the Trailmax name for over 30 years,” Salisbury said. This “non-start-up, start-up” boasts three decades of production experience, creating rugged product lines. By using only rectangular tubing, Valor Trailers provides better rigidity and offroad capabilities - something that made Trailmax Trailers wellknown. Now the company is focusing on four family lines and dialing in on those products for its year one production. Speaking to the rugged nature of Valor Trailers’ build, Salisbury joked, “We’ve said that Trailmax was a 1960s tank and that Valor is a modern Abrams main battle tank. Both are tanks, but they’ve got different uses.” In addition to building “tanks” in the form of heavy-duty utility, drop-deck, deckover, tilt-deck, fifth wheel and gooseneck trailers, Valor Trailers now offers a robust suite of technological and mechanical tools to create a fool-roof, operator experience. It’s also working on a lifetime warranty program, a dealer network program and an aftermarket parts division to launch at the end of the year. 2 Salisbury believes, “A great aftermarket parts division is a way for dealers to service customers. If your dealers are thriving, then you’re going to thrive.” Currently, Valor Trailers works with dealerships in the Mountain West, Pacific Northwest, California and Canada. The company also plans to slowly introduce the brand to Texas and parts of the East this year. The company has had a unique opportunity to present itself when it comes to establishing its dealer footprint thanks to many former Trailmax Trailers dealers desiring to see what Valor Trailers has to offer. “We have the chance to start over,” Salisbury said. “We have the opportunity to go to market more intentionally. When Valor Trailers brings in new dealers, we don’t want to saturate the market. We’ve been regimented because we want every dealer to survive. 3 Dealers will not only have the opportunity to see Valor Trailers’ best-selling, heavy-duty tilt-deck in person at the 2020 NATDA Trailer Show, but they’ll also see the company’s newest product initiatives and programs unveiled at September’s show. “We weren’t sure if we were going to show anywhere, but the September kickoff aligned with our warranty plan launch. It’s perfect timing for us,” Salisbury shared. “We’re very dealercentered and don’t make any end-user sales. We’re old school when it comes to how we believe an OEM gets his products and that’s around the dealers.” 4 www.natda.org NATDA Magazine 27
