Leveraging NATDA Membership for Growth
Diamond K Sales has been a proud member of the North American Trailer Dealers Association( NATDA) since 2008 and has gotten long term value using the association’ s resources, from dealer education to networking opportunities.
One particularly impactful education session he attended discussed future safety regulations, such as tire pressure sensors and backup cameras, which could soon become industry standards.
Attending the NATDA Trailer Show has allowed him to connect with manufacturers, suppliers, and fellow dealers. These relationships have been invaluable in sourcing inventory, negotiating better deals, and exchanging business strategies.
Royal went on to explain,“ I have made valuable vendor partnerships especially by attending The Trailer Show, including website management and financing, which have helped me streamline my operations and improve customer experience. When you are small business, benefits like this go a long way!”
This year he was excited to attend NATDA’ s new Trailer Tech Expo. The timing and location made it more accessible, and it was also the first industry event to focus on the latest advancements in trailer technology.
Marketing and Industry Leadership
Royal has always been an advocate for proactive marketing. In the early 2000s, he recognized the power of the internet and invested in a website long before many others saw the value. His foresight paid off, earning Diamond K Sales one of the top-ranking trailer dealer websites in the region.
His deep ties to the agricultural community have helped solidify Diamond K Sales as a trusted name among Oregon’ s farmers.
Looking to the Future
With over two decades in the industry, he is exploring options for an eventual exit strategy, whether through expansion, acquisition, or a transition plan.“ It was a valuable coincidence that Trailer Tech Expo also featured a session at Reno on Dealer Exit Strategies with Sara Hey, which allowed me to connect with others feeling the same way when weighing my options.”
In the meantime, his focus remains on refining operations, improving efficiency, and ensuring that his customers continue to receive top-tier service. His motto?“ If I can sell trailers in Oregon, I can sell them anywhere.”
A Legacy of Excellence
For Diamond K Sales, success is not just about selling trailers— it’ s about building lasting relationships and maintaining a business that stands the test of time. His advice to aspiring dealers is simple:“ Do your research, find a unique product offering, and never compromise on quality. Customers will recognize the difference.”
Diamond K Sales offers a wide range of new and used trailers, truck beds, and equipment, including Arrowquip cattle chutes, Tajfun logging tools, sheds from the Shed Center, and is an authorized dealer for Maxx-D Trailers, PJ Trailers, Great Northern, Summit, Horizon Trailers, Good Guys, Cargo Pro / Snow Pro, Stealth, Bear Track Trailers, also CM and Legend X truck beds. In addition to sales, Diamond K Sales also specializes in trailer repairs and trailer hitch installations, ensuring customers have the support they need for their hauling needs.
