“Energy Efficient Lighting Systems (EELS)
Applications for Architects”
ENERGY EFFICIENCY is juxtaposed among those concerns of greater importance in
today’s world because it is one of the most cost-effective and reliable means of mitigating
global climate change. It is but then prudent for us to put into place mechanisms which will
allow us to lessen the ill effects of climate change.
The purpose of this paper is to empower our industry practitioners (the architects)
to catalyze change towards the use of energy-efficient lighting. Lighting, besides affecting
the physical and emotional well-being of building occupants, is one of the major uses of
electricity and source of internal heat.
Thus, it is our hope that through this paper presentation, we will realize a significant
impact on the overall consumption and power demand of a built environment without
sacrificing the allied services and amenities.
