Island non-profit
Sustainable Nantucket’s mission
is dedicated to
“cultivating a
healthy Nantucket
by building a more
locally-based
and self-reliant
food system and
a strong local
economy.” Their
efforts include
expanding agricultural demand
and production,
increasing access
to local food for
the community through a vibrant seasonal
farmers’ market, in our restaurants and
schools, as well as educating the community about sustainability. To achieve
their goals, they’ve spearheaded a variety
of programs such as NantucketGrownTM,

Farm to Table, Farm to School and Community Agriculture. All promote the food
grown, processed
and distributed
on island, and
enjoin the entire
community – from
schoolchildren
to restaurants to
local artisans –
to take part in
reducing our
carbon footprint
in various ecofriendly ways.
