People talk a good game , but I wanted the people who were going to spend their time helping with the project to see what I had in mind . What took shape was the Naleighna Kai Literary Café Magazine . This would be the perfect complement to the online group where we ’ re hosting a series of chats and telephone conferences with authors you know and love , as well as authors you might not have heard from in a while . Once in a Face Book Group , I posted covers such as Shades of Jade by Gloria Mallette , Child of God by Lolita Files , Getting Hers by Donna Hill and Soul Mates Dissipate by Mary B . Morrison . Readers chimed in with either , “ I loved her work ,” “ Whatever happened to her ?” or “ Who the heck is that ?”
A whole new generation of readers is not familiar with people that I consider the “ graduate ” class of the literary world . I brought a few of those authors into the group for a chat about a novel they had penned years ago . The response from the readers was overwhelming gratitude . The idea which came to mind on that wonderful three-day weekend is that between the online group and the magazine , we will now be able to keep book lovers up-to-date with authors from the literary past and introduce authors who could very well be part of the TBR ( to be read ) future .
As with any new seeds of venture , it needs a little water to make it grow . You are that water . Please spread the word about NKLCM and have your fellow book lovers or book club members subscribe to this monthly offering . Then take it a step further and join us online in Naleighna Kai ’ s Literary Café ( on Face Book ) to actually interact with some of the authors you meet here .
So take a look between our pages and find something loved , something new , something that just might inspire you . Personally , I believe this magazine is a win-win for literary lovers everywhere . After you check out the first edition , let me know if you feel the same .
