we have taken these steps, and we have also implemented strategies to ensure business continuity and
long-term stability to fulfill our obligations, just as we have for more than one million families since 1907.
Amidst these challenging times, we are responsible to you, our business partners, clients, policyholders,
and internal team. I assure you that SBLI stands strong and ready to support you as the COVID-19 crisis
develops and that we will continue to do all we can to help your business grow by providing protection
to families and businesses, and servicing your agents’ needs.
SBLI’s mission continues to be providing affordable, dependable life insurance to those who need it. Our

I’d like to share a few of the specific initiatives we’ve established or reinforced to support you:
Health & Safety
We have taken steps to protect the health and safety of our staff, our customers, and our business
partners, including working-from-home and leveraging our proven digital capabilities. We are
heeding direction from the CDC and local public health officials in regard to COVID-19.
Given the need for physical separation, we remind our business partners of our unique Accelerated
Underwriting process. It guarantees tele-med fulfillment and no physical exam on all cases $500,000
and less, ages 18-60, for all risk classes. Supported by our drop ticket and e-delivery capabilities, it
provides a seamless, end-to-end sales process with no face-to-face contact.
Business Continuity
We have implemented plans to minimize disruption to business. We continue to quickly process new
applications, pay out claims and process other payments on schedule and are operating at full power
remotely. These steps ensure that we continue to operate responsibly for our team while maintaining
our traditionally high standards for you.
Financial Strength & Stability
We are closely tracking market conditions and responding appropriately to ensure we remain well-
positioned to meet current and future obligations. Our financial stability continues to be monitored
by independent rating agencies and we consistently achieve excellent ratings. SBLI’s financial
condition is among the most solid in the life insurance industry. Our current ratings are:
• A.M. Best rating: ‘A’ (Excellent)
• S&P rating: ‘A-’ (Strong)
