Xunantunich Mayan Ruins

This is believed to be the longest established Mayan archaeological site in Belize. A major ceremonial site built on a natural limestone ridge during the Classic Period, it is composed of six major plazas, with more than twenty-five Maya temples and palaces. Well worth the trip and you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding area.

San Ignacio Market

To truly experience life in Belize, you must visit this market on a Saturday morning. Although it is open every day, Saturday seems to be the main day for shopping. San Ignacio is located on the Macal River in Central Belize and people converge in the market to sell their products and to shop. Amidst the lovely array of colours, the cacophony of voices and aroma of food being cooked right before you, this is a great way to spend a Saturday morning.
