The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center occupies 29 acres of tropical savanna. Started in 1983 primarily as a place to care for mistreated and abandoned animals, the zoo now has over 170 native animals in residence. Get introduced to Belize’ s exotic animals and learn about wildlife conservation and rehabilitation.

Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary
Located 32 miles north of Belize, this protected reserve is an amazing experience for birders of any skill level. Its 16,400 acres of lagoons, creeks, logwood swamps, broadleaf forest and pine savanna offers nature lovers an unforgettable experience. Globally endangered species are protected here, including the Central American River Turtle, Mexican Black Howler Monkey and the Yellow-headed Parrot.
