Museum at Fort Napoléon Built in the 19th century, this fort sits on top of a hill in Terre-de-Haut. Its well-organized exhibits gives a clear picture of the island’s colourful history. There’s a beautiful botanical garden and while strolling through, you may just see an iguana or two. The view of Bourg des Saintes from this vantage point is breath-taking and from here you can also see Marie-Galante and La Désirade on a clear day. Port Louis Port Louis is a small, quiet town in north-east Grande-Terre. Its colourful wooden houses with residents sometimes sitting on the doorsteps to avoid the heat indoors, gives the town a lovely authentic feel. Here you’ll find one of the most beautiful beaches in Guadeloupe, Anse du Souffleur beach. It’s a lovely place for a picnic or you can just relax on the pristine white sand while getting much-needed respite from the sun under a grape tree. © Guadeloupe Islands Tourist Board Photo Credit: Tripadvisor Traveller Jacques Cousteau’s Underwater Reserve Off the coast of Basse-Terre lies this protected marine reserve considered to be one of the best diving sites in the Caribbean. You can explore it by snorkeling, scuba diving or on one of the area’s glass-bottomed boats. It’s simply beautiful - coral reef sponges, sea urchins, a rare sighting of a nurse shark , turtles, lobsters, eels, seahorses and more. A statue of Jacques Cousteau also rests calmly underwater in the company of the spectacular marine life. Phot Credit: www.guadeloupe-islands.com © Guadeloupe Islands Tourist Board
