The Westwood Recreation Preschool recently made its annual visit to the Westwood Fire Department
headquarters as part of Fire Prevention Week. Fire Marshall Darren Blankenbush, pictured, led the children
on a tour of the firehouse, giving them an opportunity to see all the different fire vehicles. Greeting the
children in streetclothes and, later, donning his fire equipment, Blankenbush’s purpose was to humanize
firefighters so the children wouldn’t be afraid when they come into their homes.
