LIBRARY BUILDING 50TH
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Come join us throughout this next year as
we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our
location at 31 Engle St. There will be a
concentrated slate of programs the weekend
of Sept. 22-23 to mark the anniversary, but
there will also be programs before and after
that weekend to note the milestone.
ENGLEWOOD LIBRARY: 50TH
ANNIVERSARY RECEPTION
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the
Englewood Library’s iconic building, a
gallery of historical documents, photos, and
stories about the library will be on display
throughout November in the Leonard J.
Hansen Gallery on the main floor of the
library. On Sunday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m.,
the Friends of the Englewood Library will
host a reception at the library with refresh-
ments and live music.

The Englewood Library’s building is turning
50 this fall, so to celebrate we’re throwing a
family-friendly birthday party complete with a
live performance, arts and crafts, and games
for children of all ages on Thursday, Nov. 8
from 5 to 7 p.m. downstairs in the library.
CONCERTS
The History of Motown
Saturday, Sep. 22, 7 p.m.
Maryanne Christiano-Mistretta will discuss
Berry Gordy’s Motown artists, followed by live
music from Stephen Fuller.
Viva Vallenato! Folk Music of Colombia
Saturday, Oct. 6, 7 p.m.
The Viva Vallenato Cumbia Band performs
the electrifying folk music of Colombia, South
America.
Abe Ovadia
Sunday, Oct. 21, 7 p.m.
Jazz guitarist and composer Abe Ovadia
performs standards from the traditional jazz
repertoire with a modern twist.
Pianist Ronee Boyce
Saturday, Nov. 3, 7 p.m.
Pianist Ronée Boyce is a recipient of
numerous local and national prizes. She is an
advocate for Slavic and Russian repertoire.
Nelson Riveros Trio:
“The Latin Side of Wes Montgomery”
Saturday, Nov. 17, 7 p.m.
The Nelson Riveros Trio will perform “The
Latin Side of Wes Montgomery,” playing
selections from the master guitarist with dif-
ferent Latin and Brazilian arrangements.

Arnold Brown, J.D., will present a talk,
“Englewood in the 1960s.”
1960s Trivia Contest

Test your knowledge of the 1960s, (particu-
larly 1968), as the Englewood Library launch-
es its first trivia contest. Emphasis will be on
1968 to commemorate our building’s anniver-
