A MESSAGE FROM COUNCILMAN CHARLES COBB Dear Residents, Starting on March 12, Englewood residents will begin to receive an invitation from the U.S. Census Bureau to complete an online questionnaire. As you know, completing the decennial census is a constitutional mandate for all U.S. residents and assures that vital federal resources are allocated not only to the State of N.J., but also to the County of Bergen. You can shape the future for our community for the next 10 years. When you fill out the census, you help: n Determine how many seats your state gets in Congress. n Guide how more than $675 billion in federal funding is distributed to states and communities each year. n Create jobs, provide housing, prepare for emergencies, and build schools, roads Councilman Charles Cobb and hospitals. Locally, the census impacts funding for the following: n Schools and education n Health care facilities n Housing assistance n Public transportation n Child and adult food assistance programs n Assistance for people transitioning out of homelessness n Career and technical grants n Medicare Part B Residents, let’s make our best efforts to completing the 2020 census and exceed the 46 percent completion rate for 2010. We can do better! As you can see, the census impacts the funding for many services used by the residents of the City of Englewood. So I encourage you, your family, neighbors and friends to fill out the census form, so that our community can continue to have access to the many needed services made available by completing the census. If you should have any questions or concern, please feel free to contact me, the City Manager’s Office or the City Clerk’s Office. Thank for your time and be counted!
