ith another season nearly upon us, the news on the team front is very good. This season we will run sides at Under 7, Under 8, Under 9, Under 10 (A & B), Under 11 (A & B), Under 13, Under 14 and Under 15 – 10 sides which is as many as we have ever run in a season. Most of these sides are at full strength but we could do with one or two more at Under 7 (Year 2 from September 2013) – contact Dave Howes on 020 8933 1037. There is a lot of positivity within our older sides – the Under 14s have been promoted two divisions after back-toback promotions in the two previous seasons and the Under 13s start in Division 1 for the ?rst time, with a strengthened squad. The real buzz, however, is in our Under 15 side which has strengthened considerably after
u10s wealdstone Cup and Trophy wINNers
last season’s near miss on promotion. There is a real feeling of now or never amongst this side who have trained throughout the summer, often twice a week. At the other end of the scale, the Under 7s will play their ?rst ‘competitive’ matches after training with our Academy for the best part of
two years together. The boys gave a taste of their potential in a recent tournament where their performances were simply outstanding, particularly as it was their ?rst taste of team football in a competitive environment. Much is also expected of the Under 8s, who will play in their ?rst season together as a team but have some very good players, a couple of whom played a ‘year up’ last season. Squeezed in between our oldest and youngest sides are our very good Under 10 and Under 11 sides, the latter will be playing 9 v 9 for the ?rst time are well equipped for the change in format.
